I got an email from Sam and Kelly Jo Rose. They purchased my “Hot Dog Biz 101″ course last fall and used what they learned to start their new hot dog cart business from scratch.
Hi Steve,
It’s hard to believe that Wiener King started on 10-17-09 and that is has come so far already.
We worked a grand opening for Advanced Auto on 1-16-10 and then a car show on 2-7-10 and they want us back as often as they can have us. The Manager was so happy with us that she gave our information to all the other stores in Central Florida to use for any events that they have coming up.
Starting this Friday, we will be working nights on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at the bar, Friday and Saturday during the day at our current location and then working any concerts and UFC broadcasts at the bar’s amphitheater.
We both love working the cart and meeting absolutely wonderful people every single time that we are out.
We have found that we enjoy all the aspects of the business from marketing to designing our logo and promoting Wiener King to learning something new with each new opportunity.
It is such a far cry from what both of us has done in the past and we are so excited that this is going to be our future. We plan on taking this from part time to full time this year.
We are so pumped up about the future with our cart and where it will take us.
We are attaching some photos too.
Thank you so much for all of your help Steve!

Rick,
We discussed where to get insurance in a previous issue. Read it at: http://www.hotdogprofits.com/blog/hot-dog-cart-insurance-who-do-you-use/
If anyone has additional sources of insurance please go to that issue and leave it in the comments there.
Thanks!

Hey guys that is great news to hear, it is always nice to hear others starting there own business to success. its nice to control your own hours and have fun at the same time.
I started the hot dog business when I was at an event doing airbrush tattoos, the booth next to me was selliing hot dogs, at the end of the event the hot dog guy thanked for making him rich, while on line with me getting tattoos they were also buying hot dogs, I am now selling since Nov full time here in the sun shine state, keep in touch.

FYI Steve, I looked at the umbrella address you gave, it appears to be just search engine results, nothing specific to HD that I saw.

Good luck in your new business. We are wanting to get going for the season in March, but if these snow storms continue we may not. Everything looks great and seems that you are ready to roll some dogs out.

Thanks all of you for the wonderful words of encouragement. We have started out simple like Steve suggests. We serve Nathan’s All Beef Hot Dogs that are skinless, Coke and Pepsi products, Lays products, beanless chili and kraut plus relish, mustard (regular and spicy), ketchup, mayo, cheese and BBQ sauce. We plan on expanding as sales expand but the basics seem to keep everyone happy and coming back for more. We read the news letter every time it comes out and learn some much from everyone – it’s great to be part of this community. We are loving it!!!

I have noticedc that alot of you doggers use brands like nathans or eisenbergs We started about 10 months ago I contacted local meat markets that made hot or sausage I asked for a all meat no fillers hot dogwith hint of garlic also pepper and other secret spices i like When we came to arkansas for the winter I checked around and were told hot springs packing offered what we were looking . Every body loves our dawgs and always asks where bthey can get them I always say not at your local grocery store . Remember this anyone can sell a hot dog, You suceed when you sell the expierence of a Dawg from a cart!!!!!!

Sam and Kelly Jo,
Congratulations on your success! You too seem to be blessed in your HDC business!
Worked a lot of the local Mardi Gras parades and events. That was lucrative, but after the last parade yesterday, worked my usual night location at the college bar intersection, and netted between 5 pm and 2 am, $1200. My best Dawg shift yet. Non-stop selling for 7 hours. I came home with nothing to put away! over 300 Dawgs, sodas, chips, and Frito pies….My HDC has already become a college tradion.
Sounds like y’all are in a good town for the dog biz. Are you the only HDC in town?
