Here’s some video of me and the E-Z Built Hot Dog Cart working my annual block party last Saturday. If you don’t know my story, I started, grew, and sold a successful hot dog cart business using carts that I built myself. When I sold “King Weenie Hot Dogs” I signed a non-compete agreement which prohibited me from selling hot dogs for one year. I used that year to start HotDogProfits.com.
I had a blast getting back in the saddle and slingin’ some tubesteak. Hope you enjoy the show and please comment below!

Could you drop the fee per person, and just charge a labor fee for the length of the event? let me give you an example of what i mean. i already charge a beautiful mark up for the meat I buy (at a price you would not believe i can get). I have that mark up for a private event. I charge a mark up for prep time and side items. then instead of Charging per person i can charge a straight labor fee. So far i am making a great return with that private party estimate method. You find out the estimate for the amount of people that will attend the event and the Exact amount of time you will need to serve. Then figure that into your product cost. then you add the labor fee. Works like a champ. Show a better cost on the product, and make up the difference on labor cost. Then the client doesn’t have to worry about the exact amount of people that can or can’t come to the event (if by invitation only).let’s them breath easy if they have to invite people last minute.
Also stops some of the anal behavior a customer can bring to your doorstep last minute.

Tim,
Maybe I’m just a simple kind of man but that sounds mighty complicated…
Kind of like those word problems in high school that we all loved so much – NOT!

Hey Debi,
Actually I donated my time and 100 hot dogs and chips to the party. My wife was one of the organizers so I was encouraged to serve.
We had a blast! That bottle of red in the cooler didn’t last long.
Our neighborhood is pretty new and we’re trying to get everyone out of their houses to meet each other. We had about 80 percent attendance. Free food works wonders!
Want a hot dog cart for Christmas? Ask Santa and be sure to be good!
Did you get enough rain down there in Florida?

Hey Steve,
Awesome block party, another awesome idea for self promotion….throwing a get together and serve some delicious “red hot” Chicago style hot dogs! I hope my cart looks just as good as yours did in the video. Thanks for being here for all of us!
