Got A Web Site? – Let’s See It!

September 2nd, 2009 · 40 Comments · Fun Stuff, Hot Dog Cart Business Tips

I have been getting a lot of emails recently from readers of Hot Dog Cart News asking me to check out their web sites. I really enjoy seeing how you folks are promoting your hot dog cart businesses online, which gives me an idea…

If you have a hot dog vending business, and you have a web site to promote it, how about sharing it here on HDCN.  Don’t worry if it’s not super professional. The best ones are often very simple.

I think it will be fun to check out everyone’s sites, and to see all the different designs and marketing approaches as well as being able to learn from each other. But there’s a bonus – if you share your site here you’ll get some valuable advertising for free. This site gets 50,000 page views per month, so you don’t want to miss this opportunity!

Please note – this is only for hot dog cart operators, not cart manufacturers or industry suppliers. Manufacturers can contact me for advertising packages and rates.

Don’t be shy, let’s see what you’ve got. Leave your web address in the comments box below.

I am on it. This another great idea Steve! Do you ever get tired of being THE MAN!

Come check out Get Grilled. Home of the Original Hanford Belly Buster Hot Dog. It is an all beef jumbo hot dog. And if I do say so myself..and I do. It is awsome! we serve it plain or the Big Belly with chili, sauerkraut, cheese, tomato, onion, peppers. either hot peppers or green peppers either way you want it. Just go to getgrilledfoods.com

    Tim,

Yes I get tired of being the man every time something breaks around the house, the lawn needs mowing, there’s a spider in the girl’s bedroom, the dog’s nails need clipping, the car is making a “funny” noise, it’s trash day, and the neighbor is playing his music too loud again.

    Sigh…

I use MS Officelive, it’s free for the first year, $20/year after that. Setting up the site is so easy, it’s like adding attachments to an email. I put ads on craigslist with a link to my site, that generates interest, traffic, and ultimately, a nice weekend gig or two.

    Chris,

    I have a question.

I know what a Chicago dog slinger is, but what the hell is a ERP/Web interface/Application UI designer?

Never mind, just giving you a hard time ;-)

Gee thanks Steve – for reminding me that this is the one thing I haven’t even started on yet – a website :) After spending all summer going through the red tape, getting a cart, researching sources for supplies/food, dealing with the health dept, finding a commissary and FINALLY getting set up for business – mental head slap! I forgot to build a website! LOL But I will email you a picture of my cart. It’s pretty neato-keen if I do say so myself.

    Steve,
That is halarious but oh so true. I have always said that the only reason our wives keep us around is to carry groceries and kill bugs . I have also found out..according to my wife…that I am the reason for the bad economy, swine flu, global warming, pollution, E-coli, and everytime it rains when we wash our cars. LOL! But this is a great idea about the websites so your are The Man! but I am not going to tell my wife about you, she was asking about the cash for clunkers programs for husbands…HAHAHA.

I am enjoying this website tour, very cool

Just starting to put my business plan together. Quick question to the masses. Does anyone serve pre-cooked dogs? The “Newbie” needs to understand what peole are serving.
    Thanks

  • steveNo Gravatar

    Hi Jack,

All hot dogs are pre-cooked from the factory.

Don’t feel bad. That’s a common newbie misconception, and there is a lot of misinformation out there.

If you want to know how the business REALLY works, check out my 250 page course at http://www.HotDogBiz101.com. We have a lot of successful people here who got their start with that course.

    To your success!

  • LouiseNo Gravatar

I’ve been lurking over these websites for a while now and find them quite inspiring!

It’s awesome to see all the pictures and menu ideas. I can’t believe how elaborate some menus are, especially Joe “Pocono”. You do all of that on a CART????? Simply amazing!

I’m a bit computer challenged. What would you all recommend for a website host? Does it cost a lot to get one up?

I would like to have a site some time before next Spring, but don’t have a clue where to start. Perhaps that should be a project for my kids, lol.
